This power station with 3000 MW capacity is located in the Azerbaijan Republic near the town of Mingechaur. The station is intended to meet the power needs of the Republic, and operates on the Trans-Caucasus interconnected power system.
The Azerbaijan steam power station is the first thermal power station in the Republic, equipped with once through boilers, operating at super critical steam conditions. The station is equipped with outdoor TGMP-344 ACO type gas and fuel oil burning boilers with steam output of 1000 t/h, designed to operate under seismic conditions, and K-300-240-3 steam turbines of 300 MW capacity.
The station is sited close to the recreation zone of Mingechaur therefore provision is made for environmental protection purposes to preclude polluted waste discharges by the construction of two chimneys each of 330m height.
