This is Evrope's first outdoor type power station. The station was constructed in two stages. The first part of the station comprises of four power units, with a unit capacity of 150MW. Installed at the first part of the station are PBK-150 turbines, TGM-94 steam generators, each raising 500 tonnes of steam per hour, and TGB-200 generators.
The second part of the station consists of three power units each rated at 160MW and comprising of K-160-130 turbines and TMG-94 steam generator. The first power unit was pul into service in 1962, and the seconnd in 1968.Later on, a number of steps were taken to modernise the equipment. As a result the first set of turbines were reconstructed into type K-155-130 units with their unit capacities raised by 5 MW each. The installed capacity of the Ali-Bayramly regional power station amounts to 1100 MW.
